Rose Cut Diamond Ring
Gorgeous ring featuring five rose cut style diamonds!! This ring is an unusual and desireable example of rose cut diamond jewelry.
This ring is what we refer to as a "marriage". The top part of the ring with the diamonds was originally made in the late 1800s. In the 1940's the ring was passed down in the family and the new bride loved the beauty of the diamonds but the original ring band had become to fragile. She then had the top of the old ring reset onto an elegant 14kt yellow gold band. Therefore the ring is composed of vintage and antique elements.
The top of the ring is 18kt white gold and features five irregularly shaped faceted diamonds. The center diamond is roughly a 4x3mm pear shape and the four side stones are oval like ranging from 3mm to 2.5mm. The ring band itself is 14kt yellow gold featuring gold balls at either end of the diamonds and a grooved shank. The top of the ring measures 5.5mm wide and tapers under the finger to 1.9mm. The top of the diamond measures 5mm from the finger. Due the style of a rose cut diamond (a flat back stone with a domed top), this is truly a low profile and non snagging ring. This ring is a size 6 3/4. The interior of the ring band has two stamps. A 14kt gold alloy mark and the "American Beauty" hallmark.
The diamonds are well matched in color and are in the J-K color grade. The quality is VS2 due to natural inclusions of carbon visible in the stones.
