Early Victorian turquoise and pearl locket brooch with swivel front.
Brooch made from bicolor rose and yellow gold.
The front of the brooch swings to the side to reveal an oval shaped beveled glass compartment. The decorative front snaps securely into place.
The glass locket compartment is accessed through a hinged glass panel on the reverse of the brooch.
Brooch is set with turquoise glass balls (2mm) and seed pearls (1.5mm).
Brooch measures 3 3/4" l x 1 5/8" w x 5/8" d. The glass locket compartment measures 1" x 1 1/4".
The brooch is in very good antique condition, showing expected signs of wear. The lower drop pendant has a small solder repair and there are spots where a hinged bail and additional dangles may have been attached originally.
Brooch is unmarked. The body tests as 9kt gold and the decorative elements as 15kt gold. Brooch weighs 28.0 grams.
